Do I need to own my own firearm to take a class with Sinistrum Training?
  • At this time all students are asked to provide their own firearms for Sinistrum Training classes. We're working diligently to be able to provide rentable firearms but we cannot currently provide this service.
Where is the range located?
  • We utilize a range at a private location. Out of respect for the owners, we provide the exact location when a student purchases a seat in one of our classes. For distance estimation, the range is located in Thurmont, MD.
What should I wear to the range?
  • On the range, students are asked to wear, at minimum, closed toe shoes, long pants, and high neck shirts to prevent against hot brass. Students may also bring any headwear they may wish to protect against the sun or hot brass casings as well.
What equipment do I need to bring?
  • For courses at Sinistrum Training, students are required to bring, at minimum, their own firearm, eye & ear protection, their own ammunition, a quality and reliable holster (optional for Maryland Wear and Carry classes). Any addition equipment a student wishes to bring is at their own discretion. Sinistrum Training recommends students bring a hydration source as well.
Are there any age requirements?
  • Students who wish to attend our classes by themselves must be at minimum 21. Other students aged 12-20 must accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
I have a medical marijuana card, will you train me?
  • Due to federal and state firearms regulations, at this time, we are not offering firearms training to any Medical Marijuana card holders. In order to train with Sinistrum the holder must surrender their card, wait a 1 year cooldown period, and then reach out for course information.
What is your refund policy?
    • 1. General Cancellations & Refunds
    • Within 48 Hours of Initial Registration: Students will be elligible for a FULL refund within the first 48 hours after submission of their registration. Any student cancellations after 48 hours will not receive a refund.
    • 2. Student Choice: Tuition Transfers
    • Alternative Courses: In the event of a qualifying cancellation, students may choose to have their tuition applied toward a future class of equal value.

    • Classes of Lesser Value: If a student chooses to transfer to a class of lesser value, the price difference will be refunded to the student or kept as a credit for future use at their request.

    3. Extreme Inclement Weather
    • Instructor Discretion: Courses will generally proceed in rain or snow. However, in the event of extreme inclement weather (such as lightning, high-wind warnings, or unsafe road conditions), Sinistrum Training reserves the right to cancel or postpone the session.

    • Notification: If a class is cancelled due to weather, you will be notified via the email or phone number provided during registration at least 3–4 hours before the start time.

    • Weather Refunds: If we cancel a course due to weather, you will be offered the option to apply your payment as a credit toward a rescheduled date.

    4. Private Lessons & Equipment
    • Private Lessons: A minimum of 48 hours' notice is required to receive a rescheduling credit for private sessions.

    • Non-Refundable Items: Fees for ammunition or rental firearms are non-refundable once the course has commenced.
